The Anchor Inn is a 17th century coaching inn situated on the bank of the river Exe in Exebridge, less than two miles from the breathtaking scenery of Exmoor.
This enduring inn has a rich past and a firm place in local history. Over the last 400 years The Anchor Inn has played host to travellers of all kinds, from the loftiest of noblemen to the highwaymen that sought to lighten their purses. The inn also entertained the celebrated English novelist R.D. Blackmore in the 19th century and features in his classic "Lorna Doone".
Of course the march of time has seen the inn modernised but we offer our patrons a rich old-world atmosphere alongside quality food, the finest ales and comfortable accommodation. The extensive riverside garden makes the inn ideal for families and pet owners and our excellent location on the river Exe is unbeatable for anglers wishing to take advantage of the abundant waters.
